GIMP FOR MAC 10.6.8 REGISTRATION
Price Range: Shareware, limits are minor, registration is $5.99. System Mac OS X 10.9.x Mavericks to macOS Sierra 10.12.4 System: Any Mac OS X, if compiled correctly. System: Mac OS X 10.7 Lion (Official) to macOS Sierra 10.12.4 (Unofficial) I personally have tested makeMKV for DVDs (Ghibli Films) and BDs (Macross Frontier, Wings of Honneamise). Use a muxing suite to place the encode into a more friendly container for your purposes. In addition, it does NOT convert the video (unless you want it to), it places the original encode into the MKV container, which is what we want. MakeMKV, as its name suggests, places the ripped material in an MKV container. Price range: Freeware for DVD/AVHCD, Shareware for BDs ($50 for BD ripping after 30 days)
System: Mac OS X 10.6.x Snow Leopard to macOS Sierra 10.12.4, Windows, Linux
If advocating the inclusion of a program, please fully explain how its use is appropriate for our prosumer purposes. Most of them are garbage bloatware, and some even skirt the concept of malware. There are dozens of supposed "video" applications for Mac. Abandonware will, with a few notable exceptions, be removed from this list. Emphasis will be placed on software compatible with macOS Sierra, with additional inclusion of El Capitan as there are 2007/2008/2009 Macs still in the wild which are not compatible with Sierra. This version of the MacOS Software List is a completely up to date version of the Software List as of April 16, 2017, and will only include software compatible with Intel Macintoshes (those manufactured after August 2006) and only those that run on Mac OS X 10.7 Lion and above.
